Ready for a truth bomb? Ok, here it is: Nobody will ever care about your dreams as much as you do.

Sit with that for a second. It doesn’t mean that nobody cares about you or your dreams. What it means is this: If you have a dream, the only person in a position to make it a reality is YOU. Your dreams are not governed by anybody else. You alone are in control of your destiny.

And you know what? It works out perfectly because you are totally amazing and absolutely perfect for the job. That’s why these dreams were given to you. Why God chose them for you in the first place. Because you have the unique gifts, strengths, and abilities to realize them.

Think about it. It’s true.

But in order to harness the necessary confidence to achieve greatness, and to accomplish the impossible,  you need to believe in yourself.

Start by making the decision to be your own greatest supporter. Be your own cheerleader. We all need a boost to our self-esteem from time to time. To feel appreciated and loved. But instead of looking outside ourselves for those affirmations, why not pull from within? Counterintuitive as it may be, it actually means a whole lot more when it comes from yourself!

Authentic self-appreciation is about knowing your gifts and respecting, valuing, and honoring them.

Not sure how to even begin rooting for yourself? Here are some ideas to get you started.

  • Write down things you appreciate about yourself in that journal of yours on a regular basis.
  • Speak kindly of yourself.
  • Accept compliments.
  • Take time for yourself.
  • Say affirmations to yourself in the mirror every morning.
  • Pat yourself on the back for a job well done.
  • Don’t be afraid to send yourself flowers or write yourself a love note.

Being your own cheerleader is not about being arrogant, bragging, or comparing yourself to anyone else. It’s about loving and appreciating the wonderful creation that you are. And empowering you to fulfill your life’s purpose.

So go on and dream those dreams. And love yourself enough to make them happen.
